Join the young artists of Deer Park and worship God through Drama, Sacred Dance, Art, Music, Mime and Clowning at Deer Park United Methodist Church's second annual Creative Arts Camp! During the week, our campers will flex their artistic gifts and graces while they learn more about the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
Teaching Jesus about the Bible and the life of Jesus through the interactive means of drama, movement, and clowning helps children to internalize the lessons and remember them. When children dance a prayer, dramatize a Scripture, or draw how they see God at work in the world they learn that there are all kids of ways to pray, praise and worship.
During the Creative Arts Camp, children will learn to Worship God through:
-
Art: drawing from interpreting music, group discussions, and showcase of final artwork
-
Drama: reading & memorizing scripts (younger children that cannot read well will have the chance to work with someone to help them memorize their lines), performing the drama at the end of the camp
-
Music: using hand held instruments to accompany songs, singing, in groups, perform the song at the end of the camp
-
Sacred Dance: Movement to songs that will be sung by the children themselves, sacred dance is a worship form that is presented as a method of communicating with or about God. It is not a performance. Learn sign language with songs.
-
Clown & Mime/Ministry: Express feelings through body movements and expressions.
During the registration process, each artist will select 3 of the above options to focus on during the week. Each day of camp will highlight one of the arts, allowing the campers to get a taste of all the Creative Arts.
